Most of the architectural design of the Sentosa Cove Houses like the featured here designed by Aamer Taher Architects are configured to adapt to the climatological conditions of the surroundings as well as to suit the tropical island setting of the Sentosa Island.
They are all unified in way that all these architecturally stunning houses beg to differ and unite to produce clean simplified modern tropical architecture design. There are of course some houses designed by some prominent architects differs by providing new perspectives to traditional landed property architecture.
Due to its small plot sizes all the houses in Sentosa Cove maximises the buildable area of the house. The architect also cleverly manages to achieve the most privacy possible with the design. The predominant vernacular of these bungalow designs is clean modern tropical architecture. Its aim is to achieve a very simple contemporary language that can bond and coexist with the natural surroundings of an the Sentosa Island.
In most of these residences the social areas are located at the ground level which includes covered car-park, main access, foyer, dry kitchen, dinning area, living area, powder room, guest bedroom, swimming pool and courtyards. At the basement the service areas are located, including laundry area, service bedrooms, machine rooms, pantry, bomb shelter and storage room. At second level the private areas such as master bedroom, master walk-in wardrobe, master bathroom, guest bedroom with en-suit bathrooms, home office, television room and reading room are situated.
At the roof terrace areas of some of this residences have a second entertainment area located with a timber deck for sun bathing and the admiring the ocean view and BBQ area for outdoor entertaining. The four elements that compose these houses, the sea view, Golf Course and the natural greenery allows multiple relationships within the surrounding spaces.
In order to benefit substantially from the natural sun lighting, the north and south elevations are opened as much as possible with grand full height windows and balconies, while at the east and west facades, smaller and slimmer recessed openings with cantilevered projections are made to control the morning and afternoon direct heat strike.
Most of roofs are flat or pitched to accomodate skylight openings or roof gardens to bring brighter luminance quality into the principal living spaces or for social activities.
Crossed ventilation strategy is applied to most of these residences to guarantee the proper predominant wind circulation to naturally cool the spaces and accomplish energy consumption reduction. Sets of vertical timber louvers and sliding timber panels quite commonly skirts the main glazed facades. They provide protection and graduate the natural light entrance and wind current flow.
The modern tropical bungalows in Sentosa Cove encapsulates the essence of living in the hot and humid climate of Singapore by creating open spaces which encourage natural ventilation and offer residents views to the ocean. Sentosa Cove Bungalows provides a modest and yet luxurious residential design which gives residents opportunities to live in harmony and comfortably with nature and water.
