TDA House by Cadaval & Sola-Morales
Purism in Architecture
The TDA House by Cadaval & Sola-Morales recaptures the spirit of purism demonstrated by the great Le Corbusier and Mies Van Der Rohe.
Testing the limitations of human endeavor to withstand harsh weather conditions, coupled with the ability to use recycled materials and unskilled manpower, dictated the need to design this house in concrete.
The poolside elevation with a cantilevered 2nd level, takes the structural and tectonic qualities of the building material to its limits. The language of this contemporary architecture tries to adapt the house to its environmental location.
The suspended hammocks provide a surreal link to the solidity of the structure and lends to the fluidity of inhabiting in the house. However, the outdoor built areas, under the big cantilever, is the most important space of the house as it is the central focus. TDA house has all the characteristics and the functions of a well designed living space.
